Over 10,000 speeding drivers have been caught by cameras on a stretch of the A12 last year.
Average speed cameras have been monitoring the stretch in Suffolk, just north of the Essex border, since summer 2015.
5,783 motorists had been recorded speeding southbound and 4,185 were caught speeding north in the 11 months up to November 2017 and it's assumed that figure would have reached more than 10,000 by the end of the year.
The Suffolk Police and Crime Commissioner commented: "I find it staggering that despite all the dangers along that stretch of road we are still catching more than 10,000 drivers a year who are prepared to put the lives of others and themselves at risk by driving so fast."
He added: "I really do not know what more can be done to get through to these people except repeating that you will be caught and punished."

Not surprised as some of the average speed cameras on A12 near Essex border are in wooded area, support poles painted green, with only cameras painted yellow.
Does anyone know if there is any regulation which indicates supporting poles and cameras should be painted yellow?

Thanks for link.
So it appears only camera housings have to be painted yellow.

Agreed.
I find CameraAlert most useful in the situation where the average speed zone
signs are obscured for some reason, e.g. as your overtaking a high sided vehicle.
