Whilst doing some PC maintenance earlier I noticed that the Garmin Express tray application has been crashing every time the PC starts.

I wondered why the GE app wasn't auto starting when I plugged the Nav in like it used to.

Anyone else ?

This is the latest version.

Do a search of C:\ using *.dmp and see if you have some GarminTray.exe dump files.

I'm going to dig out an older GE and install that to see what happens, tomorrow.

Hi Kremmen

I've not noticed GE crashing but then it hasn't auto started for me for a long time when connected to a unit

Interesting

GE itself doesn't crash, it works fine, so you wouldn't notice it. It's just the exe that places the icon into the system tray.
It's this part that is supposed to be watching for devices being plugged in.

I've done the same now and turned off the option to have it running and monitoring.

Just enabled it on my computer and it seems to work OK. Plugged in my 2699, it fired up GE, updated software. Shut down GE plugged in DS61, same thing, no problem. I'll try it again tomorrow after a reboot of the comp.

More investigation today, time permitting.

TBH I may just leave it not running in the background.

I've uninstalled v 5.5.5.0 and installed previous versions to find the last good version.

v 5.3.0.0 is fine

v 5.5.1.0 and 5.5.5.0 is bugged, at least for Windows 7 64 bit, it fails to start ExpressTray.exe
