Speed Camera Range

I am sure this has been asked and answered before...but in reprogramming my Camera alerts what is a safe/sensible distance to assume the camera is focused on ?
This is important for mobile cameras not so important for the rest, Gatso, redlight, av speed specs.
Currently I have it set for 1000 yards....am i safely outside the range ?

Is this the same distance for camera vans ? or as they are fixed and not hand held i assume they are a longer range.

Million Dollar question is what distance do the operators tend to focus them at ?
