So far there is no way into v10 files, the system is locked to MyTomtom and does not show as an external drive when connected to the computer - so I keep reading.

Nope!
Although there's a bit of debate about who do...

If you go to the 'Version information' screen on the Go1000, and select the 'Licences' button, there is a section called 'Voices' which credits 'Xiph.org' (who do open source stuff such as the Ogg Vorbis audio codec).

But the 'Copyright' section lists 'Nuance', (who do make voice simulation software) but they are better known for their voice recognition software which is probably used in the TomTom voice "command and control" feature.

So I'm not really sure WHO does the TTS engine now.

There is something else that has been bugging me for some time, I have looked here and no one else seems to have mentioned it;
When I enable read signposts. TT will always say 10 etc for motorway junctions. disable the read singposts and it will say junction 10 as it should. any ideas on this ?? Confused

Any more details, Romanzauk? Is this on a NAV2 or NAV3 model?

Can you give an example of where it happens with start and end points for a demo route (preferably as Lat/Long coordinates).

Hi Andy_P,

It's on my TomTom GO300 running SE 8.545 using V7 LoquendoTTS
I've come to the conclusion that LoquendoTTS does not use the same Lexicons for reading signposts and giving directions, which gets a bit confusing.
Any ideas which Lexicon is used for the signposts ? Confused

Shows how I'm beginning to lose track...
I didn't even think the Go300 had got signpost display!
It doesn't have full Reality View (lanes and signposts) images now does it?

Ha ha ! It's amazing what you can do with the GO300 it may only be a 32Meg device but yes I do have IQ routes, Lane images & loqendoTTS 7 + TTS signposts and on a good day I can get 7.5 to 10Meg free memory. I used to use vocalizerTTS, but found my free mem dropped to 3.5Meg

When you run hacked software on a model, you need to expect some surprising effects.

Hi, I've been looking at but not understanding any of the last 16 pages! Is there anything the average TT owner should be concerned about? I cannot even begin understand what the problem is and even less the solution.
Is there a quick fix for us less mortals or is it best left alone.

Basically, don't worry about it, '1304'! (snappy name!)

It was just a way to improve the way that the computer voices said some words, and was always far more of an issue in the US than here.

There are soooooooo many things I can think of responding with, most of which would likely get me banned from this site! Joker

The very first basic thing for all Go models connecting to Home2, was to convert the cphoneme.dat file in the map folder to cphoneme.old. This deactivated it, but kept it available if you subsequently wanted to change back. The result of this change was to i) get the voice to read out B road numbers, and ii) improve some pronunciation, though others were made worse. On balance it was felt to be an improvement.
