Hi everyone
I am about to take the plunge and buy pda gps. My question is if i buy a wired system now, can i upgrade to BT later?
Thinking of the Ipaq 2210. The problem i see with BT is that the charge for the receiver lasts about 5 hours. If i am on a long journey how can i charge it if it goes flat? The other problem i can see is the reliability of TT3. Many people on the forum seem to have real problems with it. Is there an alternative? Thinking of spending £450 ish for pda and gps.
Any views would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
Andy

You can always change receivers mid-race (sorry for that lame joke). Some of the BT receivers come with replaceable batteries in AAA format, so you can have a nearly unlimited battery life if you carry a couple of spare ones.

There's nothing stopping you powering a Bluetooth GPS in car, so that the batteries don't go flat - though, of course, it then needs a wire!

If you buy a wired GPS now, there's no problem with buying a Bluetooth GPS later (assuming, of course, that you buy a Bluetooth Pocket PC, which I would recommend strongly). Reconfiguring your software will only take a couple of minutes.

Thanks for the prompt reply, does the BT receiver with TT3 have the ability to be charged whilst driving?
