Faster Access at Start up

A few tips I picked up from the cycle show to speed up satellite locks
1. Save all routes to a mapcard and not the unit's memory - It wont then take processing power away from locking to load the routes
2. Start the unit with the mapcard removed - No map card , no processing power required to load
3. Hold the unit upright - The aerial is in the top part and will see the satellites easier
4. Don't walk around - The Unit cannot lock on to where you are if you keep moving!
5. Rain wont make any difference to the time.

I came home and tried this, it improved lock by at least 2 minutes.

The next software version will have a better battery indicator. the problem with the LIon Polymer batteries is that once they run down, they run down very quickly, the batt level indicator is showing a true representation of the level, the problem is in the technology of Polymer batteries. The next software release will address this problem with a different icon for showing how much life is left and a better way of handling the power.

There are a few other goddies in the release which should be available in November.

I saw the MM demonstrated, although the display is at a slightly higher resolution and I mean slightly, it was offset by the size of the screen which was 'narrow' compared to Satmap and even they haven't resolved the issue of sun glare. You also need a small child permanently accompanying you to use the touch screen, the icons are very small! I'll stick with my Active 10
