Memory Card Question - SDHC/SD

I have searched the forum but cannot find an answer! Apologies if I have missed the answer somewhere.

I wanted to find out what is the maximum SD memory card that can be used with a TomTom 530? The TomTom spec states SD memory cards (which has a maximum of 2GB) but makes no mention of SDHC ((which has a maximum of 32GB). Usually, if a SDHC is used in a non-compliant device it will only see it as 2GB.

My reason for asking is primarily for MP3 tarcks, as it would makes sense to use an 8GB or higher capacity card rather than multiple 2GB SD ones.

32GB is what your 530 can use, although these cards are a tad costly at the moment, you might be better off getting a couple of 16GB cards instead and just switch them as need be.

With the 530 you can leave all the device files and maps on the internal flash memory and just use the SD/ SDHC card for mp3 tracks, even 16GBcan take quite a bit to fill it - get a good quality card from a reputable supplier (forget e-bay) preferably a class 6 speed card if looking for SDHC - I use cards made by Peak in both 8GB and 16GB in my devices, they work great (720/ 930) - Mike

The Go series with the latest application (and therefore bootloader) can handle 32-gig sdhc cards with no problem.

Just make sure the sdhc card obtained is from a legitimate company rather than the many offered on ebay which turns out to be frauds.
