Get a horrible squeal from my Backer when approaching a speed camera. Is there a way of replacing this horrible sound? Cannot find anything in the files that looks like a wav or other sound type file.
Thanks

Sorry, lively for my age! Where's the best place to get an audio file to replace it please? I notice there are 6 alert wave files in the folder. How can I change it for something else. Do I need to replace it but keep the name the same?
Thanks

There are plenty of audio camera warnings files available from This Link, the TomTom files are in ogg format and Garmin supplied in mp3 format, to get them to wav format use Audacity which is available from Here - Mike |

Thanks Mike. Question? Those are ones I have used before and are for individual cameras. I think the one I want just says speed camera or perhaps just a reasonable bong. I get the impression the wav file just replaces the one file.

Then use Audacity to edit one of the sound clipsto do what you want, "Warning Gatso Ahead" should be easy to do - Mike |

Yes, rename the alert5.wav sound (if you want to keep it) and replace it with your sound. The problem is that it will still sound continuously (as alert5 does) on overspeed.
Does your software come on an SD card? If so you need to copy the contents to your computer. It won't run on a different SD Card, but if you manage to screw up the original S/W you can then replace it on the original card. If its 'embedded' on the Becker, Copy the whole of the IGO (or whatever) as a backup. |

Hi, thanks. I changed one of Liz's Gatso ones so it said "bong, bong bong, warning" using Audacity. I put it in the data.zip file as !alert5.wav but it still made the same strangled sound and was the original sound. Why are all the other alert sounds in there i.e. 1-6? Is only one used for all camera types?
Any ideas on what I am doing wrong?
I have everything installed on the 4Gb drive in the unit and have two backups as insurance.
And the speedcams from here do work on the unit except for the sound.

Have you checked that the original alert5 is the noise that the Becker makes? It might be worthwhile unzipping them all and have a listen to see what they sound like.
To get any sensible speedcam warning announcements for IGO you have to install one of the third party skins. |

Very strange! I have listened to the !alert5.wav file and it my amended one but I still get the same horrible squeal as the speed warning. Is the 5 alert definitely the one that Becker use for warnings as there are about 7 in the data.zip file?
On another note, I have seen skins that look very good but only for V8.3 something. My unit has V8.5 something. Would these others work for my unit? And if it was put in a Skins folder, how would it be picked up as there is no menu item for skins on my unit? Looked in sys.ini and have a Interface/Theme "" entry but no Skin.
I am an awkard so and so with my questions, aren't I? _________________ Returned to a proper Garmin although still have Co-Pilot on a Galaxy S3! |

It must be getting the sound frome somewhere else then. As to where, I give up.

No!!
Does your becker have a 'Skin' option in the Settings~(Right arrow)~Menu? Along with possibly 'Animation' and 'Background'.
If so put your skin into the Skins folder then look for it in the above menu item and try it. If it bombs, Igo will try a couple of times then load the defaults.
I wonder if linknet is listening because he is the guru on IGO |

I was listening, never heard of version 8.5.xxxx though ??
If you haven't a Settings ►Menu ► Skin option then the following might work:
[interface]
theme="skin\iGO8_Ultra_6.0.22.zip"
Just substitute for the skin you are using.

Thought that you might have been . 8.5? neither have I. Perhaps it's a variation that they have developed for becker. Wonder if your 8.3 skin will work. Like I said above, suck it and see. |

It looks completely different to iGO 8.3.xxx so it's very unlikely to work.
Check for any other "audio" folders in the root folder, data.zip and branding.zip. !alert5 is definitely the speedcam overspeed warning in iGO8.

Software version 8.5.1.88270, Image version R05.3.0565.0224
Build date Apr 30 3009.
I will look for other audio files. The noise I get is about 200 yards before the speed camera so it is not an overspeed warning, just a warning the camera is coming up.
Thanks guys
