navman pin570 Map unlocks

When purchased, this pocketPC PDA came with a complete set of European maps. However, only the UK and Ireland maps were activated, and a key unlock code is needed to activate the others, on a region by region basis.

Navman are no longer supporting the device or selling the key unlocks. Is there any way around this? In my opinion, if they don't want to sell the keys, they ought to give them away instead of leaving their customers high and dry. The maps are 4 years old and must have paid for themselves by now anyway.

Alternatively is there alternative software that can be purchased and loaded? Freemap works fine on it in Israel (provided you can follow instructions in Hebrew), but now need a set of maps for Spain.

Alternatively, will have to buy a new satnav. Any recommendations? I need something that is fast and accurate, don't need all the bells and whistles. Ideally it would be good for walking as well as in-car

I can see your point, but Navman are still selling the unlock keys for £39.00 you have to call them for this price.
