On the Garmin stand we saw all the new 1000 range navigation devices, including the nuvi 1490T with a 5 inch widescreen display. The star of the Garmin offerings though was the new multi-modal navigation which not only provides driving instructions, but allows the mixture of various other forms of transport including trains and walking.
This is the first time we have seen this technology in action. It is still under development, but will start to hit the streets in a few months time.

Mike, were you given the opportunity to actually use the 1490, or was it behind glass as sometimes happens with Garmin's display? If you tried it out, how was the browsing between menu screens accomplished? I understand it's changed but haven't seen it in action. (I couldn't watch the video right now to to a slow connection) _________________ Garmin 1695 / 255 / 760 w/MSN - Droid w/Google nav + Navigon - Navigon 8100T - Dakota10 - GPSMap76C - GeoMate Jr.
