Route Planning - Am I missing something?

Looking for some help.

I have a TOM TOM 740 in car and have been using a Garmin ZUMO on the bike for 2 years now. I am well versed in planning long trips trips on the Zumo using MApsource or directly on the Zumo.

I am now trying to plan a trip a trip to Spain via France using the 740, I want to avoid most of the toll roads and visit some specific places.

I cannot seem to find straight forward way of doing this. I can plot start to finish but adding waypoints on the way does not appear that straight forward. On the Zumo I usually plan a route day by day and add waypoints as needed. I do not seem to be able to install routes(many) on the 740.

Have I missed something? Any help much appreciate

Welcome to the forum, have you found the Itinerary option on the device? this will let you force a route via specific locations - Mike

The normal "Navigate to.." only allows one waypoint to be added (using "Travel via...")

In the Itinerary section you can load and save many itinerary files, and each one can have up to 48 (I think) waypoints or destinations

Yes, as mikealder and Andy_P have all ready suggested, use the Itinerary function for creating your route. Using Google Maps or Tyre you can even plan your Itinerary on the computer and then transfer it to your Tomtom device, it will work a treat.

I think I lost my way and began to believe it could not be done. Also good to see I can use google maps.

It's definitely worth giving Tyre a look rather than "raw" Google Maps.
