Hello,
This is a weird one, my neighbour has a TT one XL its only a few weeks old. She has joined this site and subscribed to the camera database.
I have installed everything for her, and what happens is that the "Warn when near" POI settings are being lost after she turns off the unit.
I was with her when all of the UK Speedzoned alerts were set up to "Beep 5" I ran a demo and all was fine. The unit was then switched off last night, this morning all the warnings are back to "Bell1".
Why is this happening, does anyone know. I have suggested we reset it to day 1 Windows explorer backup, but does anyone know a remedy, or has anyone experienced this?

I use the ogg files from here for camera alerts, but tried setting the overspeed warning to Beep 5 and found that kept resetting itself to Bell 1, so I gave up changing it. _________________ Anita

This used to happen to me quite often, but I thought it had been sorted out quietly in a software update, because I haven't seen it for a while.
One thing that often made it happen was connecting the unit to Home and using the on-screen emulator, but sometimes it just happened for no apparent reason.
Try all the usual possible "cures" - reset, return to factory settings (this will lose all the settings), checking for corrupted files, etc. but so long as it doesn't happen to often, it might be easier to just allow for it.
One thing you can do. is get all the warnings etc. as you want them and then make an extra backup of JUST the MapSettings.cfg file from in your map's folder.
Keep that copy on the root of your TomTom's storage (i.e. not in any folder), and if it all goes wrong again, you can copy that backup back into the map folder overwriting the one in there. |

Hi All,
I was not aware that the TTOne XL could use the OGG files from here, if that is the case I will install them for my neighbour.
Best Regards,

ALL TomToms can use the voice warnings!
So...A good idea in general, but it won't cure this issue.
The problem is with the settings FILE which tells the unit which POI categories to have warnings for (and which sound to use).
That gets re-set to default. |

The only time I have to set up the camera voice warnings again is after map updates and possibly software updates. The TomTom sounds seem to revert to Bell1 all the time for no apparent reason. _________________ Anita
