HTC Diamond and the vodafone GPS programme

HI, not a new memeber, but a new poster.
I have got a HTC diamond in the post to be delivered tomorrow.
currently i have a vodafone v1640 with TomTom 5 on it.
the Diamond says it has Vodafone's GPS Programme installed, is this a googlemaps type programme, where i need to download maps as i drive along?
if so, would my tomtom5 work on the Diamond? i have only installed it on one pocket pc, and i remember reading somewhere, you could change device after 6 months or something?
is this true, or is it new tomtom for me also?

TomTom 6.0.32 and also TomTom 7 (if you can get it) will work on the Diamond. Not sure about TT5 though.
