I have recently bought a tomtom one v3 GB maps. After loading the speed camera files I have driven along the M42 with the variable speed cameras and noticed that eight (8) sets on cameras are missing from the March database. On previous downloads I've noticed some missing as well.

This also was the same on my previous sat-nav a medion.

Can you assist,

The camera database only contains locations of actual cameras, not locations where dummy cameras or white lines on the road surface. Rest assured the database is correct, it will not alert you to a dummy camera box as there is no way it will catch you out - Mike

You can check out the positions of the real and the dummy cameras on the submission map on this page: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Cameras

The dummy ones have their own special icon! Laughing

Dummy ones? How do you know? They look like real cameras to me.

I believe checking the locations involves driving the motorway using a Radar Detector, this can differentiate between dummy boxes and live cameras. The actual true cameras haven't moved location in quite some considerable time - Mike

Also, due to the type of gantry used (basically scaffolding with no access/walkway), the road would have to be closed off in order to take cameras down or install new ones via a cherry-picker.

As the speed adherence rates are very good throughout the section, however, it's unlikely (personal opinion) that the camera positions would change in the foreseeable future.
