Aren't these warranties two totally separate things?

Your main contract is with the retailer, who could give a one year guarantee, but TomTom can give an additional one if they like.

That's not really how I would look at it !!! John Lewis are acting as the agent for Tomtom they are there appointed representative for all intent and purposes

If you do have a problem during the warranty period this is were dealing with a company like John Lewis pays off they arrange for the repair for you !! although I have not ever had to have a sat nav repaired .

I know this is an old post but just to give an update to say that I received a reply from John Lewis a few weeks ago to say that I will receive a 2 year warranty on the Tomtom I purchased .

Also there web site now shows that the Warranty period is now 2 years .!!
