ActiveSync and Windows Vista

I have just bought a Sony U52, when I try and install the software from the disc supplied my PC states that Active Sync has a compatibility problem with Vista, I was directed to a different driver on the windows software page, but the driver states 'unrecognised device' when I connect the U52 to my PC. I want to add some POIs and have downloaded them to a folder on the PC, can I install them on the Sony without ActivSync?

In Vista ActiveSync has been replaced by "Windows Mobile Device Center".
