|
|
I recently had some problems with my TomTom ONE with no GPS signal being received, I sent it off to be repaired by TomTom, when the device arrived back it had been damaged in transit, TomTom advised me to return the device so they could investigate what had happened, I have now been informed by TomTom that the device was severely damaged and possibly not repairable and they are sending me a "refurbished" device with a 2 month warranty. Is a "refurbished" device a "second-hand" device, should i accept this? |

as it was damaged because of tt not packing it correctly or their agent in transporting it, and the fact they have admitted liability, you should not in my opinion be held to account and lose your customer rights, i would suggest, for the above reasons, that you demand a new tt or a full refund, further i would send the request by registered post and state that if a satisfactory answer is not received in a specified time you will be seeking legal advice and or go to the small claims court to exact your revenge |

You are legally not entitled to a new replacement. A refurbished unit is as good as new. Can I ask why the original repair was under warranty if the unit was 15mths old? _________________ Darren Griffin |

Apparently the original unit had a two year warranty, so do i need to accept the "refurbished" device? I thought i would be getting a tatty looking replacement for my well looked after unit.
Is a 2 month warranty enough?
thanks for help |

If you had a 24mth warranty then TomTom should ensure you are not disadvantaged and supply you with a warranty on the refurb that matches that remaining on your original unit.
Refurbs are just that, units that may have been returned for any number of reasons but that have been put through quailty control and had parts replaced, cosmetic issues fixed atc such that they are as new. TotalPDA in the UK actually sell refurbished units and they are almost indistinguishable from a new device. _________________ Darren Griffin |
