With refrence to this thread by Mikealder,

http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=59534

Last week, I connected my TomTom ONE V2, to the PC, and TomTom HOME, and was told there was an update for HOME, to 2.0, which I downloaded and installed. Next I was told, there is an update for my ONE to 7.12, which I downloaded and installed. After exploring the new menu's on the TomTom, I found "Map share" doesn't work, and the "Help Me", menu isn't too accurate, the nearest doctor is 185 miles away, or so it says. I e-mailed TomTom and had a moan, and this is their reply,

Thank you for contacting TomTom Customer Support.

TomTom One 2nd Edition is not fully compatible with Home 2.0.
Please uninstall Home and re-download Home version 1.6 from our website.
The software update 7.12 is for our newest devices Go520 and Go720.
Please uninstall the update and restore your backup.
Map share is only available on our two most recent devices the
Go 520 and Go720 which have only been on the market for two months.

With Best Regards

The TomTom Customer Support Team

So If anyone has recently updated, thats why it doesn't work, but why is ONE V2 offered these updates if they are not for V2, shouldn't HOME know what ONE I have, and not offer them to me?
As far as the update is concerned, everything still works, I still have 3 pages of main menu, and 7 pages in preferences. The bluetooth, Traffic, Itinerary and Show more menu options, are still there, and the "where am I" works, and it has the bug with the OGG files that mike mentioned. So is it worth uninstalling and re-installing everything, and in future, am I to trust future updates from TomTom?

Far be it from me to say that TT support have some muppets working for them but.....I believe whoever sent you that reply is not being 100% correct.

From TomTom's own website at http://www.tomtom.com/support/index.php?FID=7261&Lid=1

"When will TomTom application version 7 be available for download?

At the moment, the following devices can use this application version.
TomTom GO 720 / 520
TomTom ONE 3rd Edition
TomTom ONE 2nd Edition (only those with serial numbers starting with Z1, Z2 or Z3)
TomTom ONE XL
We plan to release application version 7 for other TomTom devices around the end of Q3 / 2007. To stay up-to-date, make sure you set up TomTom HOME to automatically check for software updates when you connect your device."

I am happy running my TT One V2 which has a serial number starting with Z1 using the 7.120 application without any major problems. Yes, there is the bug with the ogg files and yes "Help Me" seems awful when you ask it to find the nearest doctor, dentist or Police station!

It's not. Latest for the x20's is 7.010

But it was only the service "tech" who said it was, and nothing else he said was right either!

NavCore 7.12 is working OK on a One New Edition v2, even MapShare is working.

As I saw in the signature of originator's posting, v6.60 of the maps is used; for MapSharing, you must have at least v6.75 installed (from TeleAtlas) . . .

i plugged in my TomTom ONE New Edition (Z1404****) today and accepted the suggested updates.

the tomtom home application upgrade to 2.00.370 on the PC went fine but when i accept the upgrade to v7 of the unit's software it updates and i can access everything whilst plugged into the USB through the PC software but when i disconnect and try to reboot the unit it just hangs on the splash screen and even if i push the reset button the same happens.

if i reset and hold the power button in the full unit information is displayed and i note that against the field 'Filesystem Alignment' is the value 'Not Perfect'.

in the end im forced to restore the unit from a backup.

as an IT Manager i find this particularly frustrating as it seems TomTom are not testing their releases properly causing all of us so much hassle and when will we know that we can take the latest unit application?

Custom icons are only available for use on the x20 devices the other models in the One range etc cannot use custom cursors, the functionality and selection has been left out of the menu/ software - Mike
