|
|
I have just upgraded my Windows Mobile 5 Smartphone to a new HTC Touch with WM6. My WM5 phone worked perfectly with my Go910 for bluetooth calling and all the data services including TT Traffic.
My HTC Touch works fine for bluetooth calling but not for data services - I can't use Traffic or any of the other PLUS services. My 910 tells me that my phone does not support DUN. Apparently DUN has been replaced by a newer technology in WM6.
Tom Tom ought to be aware that they will be losing quite a few subscriptions to their Traffic service as more people start upgrading their handsets to those with newer technology. No use telling them to buy an RDS-TMC as I already have one of those too and it only locks on to a signal on 10% of journeys I make!
Wonder what data technology is being supported in the x20 range?
Is it possible that Tom Tom can upgrade GO software to support the new bluetooth data protocols in a software update? |

This is not TomTom's fault - Microsoft decided to dump DUN in favour of PAN. However, there is a fix available over at XDA-Developers.com that adds DUN back onto WM5 and WM6 devices. _________________ Lutz

I found the 'fix' on xda-developers but it doesn't work with all WM5/WM6 devices. I followed the instructions and it definitely doesn't work with the HTC Touch. |

I have had a look for the WM5 update and cannot find it. Any chance of posting the link or a copy of the file please.
Why HTC/Microsoft removed it in favor of PAN I don't know.
Thanks,
John |

Thank you for your help it has been greatly appreciated.
I have located the updated patch and installed it on my HTC Touch and all works perfectly.
For the avoidance of doubt for other HTC Touch users, the correct patch is located at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1351044&postcount=21
Just copy the cabinet file to your Touch and install it from there.
I am happy once again! |
