Piracy of anything is a very very simple thing - it's bad. An easy question is "Will you do something for nothing?" - more than that, "Will you work all day, all week, all year, for nothing?" Can you?
Very few of us are wealthy enough (and generous enough) to be able to do that, we all need an income to support ourselves, families, lifestyles, whatever. Whoever comes along and takes the vegetables out of our gardens, the clothes off the shop rack, the music and cameras off the internet without paying the going rate, is bringing "us" closer to starvation. I'd like to get paid more for what I do, but at least I do get paid.
When I get to be the boss of everything, all these people who currently steal will be sent off to an island with all the other thieves to find out who they can steal from there - there won't be anything for them to steal because none of them contribute any produce. _________________ Dennis

Just a thought.
I read in one of the posts a short time ago where a question was asked 'Can I sell my device on with PGPSW safety camera database in tact'. The answer was it was OK as there was a potential future customer. Could any of those banned actually be innocent? e.g. Maybe the person who purchased the device is the real culprit not the 'downloader'. |

All we have banned have admitted their wrong doing. In the unlikely event that such a case were to occur then the onus would be on the subscriber to produce evidence of the sale.

But I suppose it can only be passed in in an installed map, which assuming is a TT like mine, then I understand that you can't do this anyway...as should my device be 'sold' or given away with , then TT has to be deleted...or so I think I was led to believe.
ps When I'm dead and gone...then what !? (Not that I will be around to worry about it I don't suppose!) |

As I understand it, PGPSW do licence some retailers to sell the DB preloaded in devices, with directions on where to come to get the updates. I'd be mortified if I thought PGPSW considered me a baddy for selling on like that, because I consider it like introducing a new customer. In my case, the buyer (friend nearby) has subscribed since day 1. We meet frequently and check whether the other has seen the latest download. _________________ Dennis

Are there measures in place to stop any of the banned users from resubscribing with a different user name / e-mail address?
I'm not sure that I think like a criminal, but this would seem like a logical way to beat the system!! |

Why don't you post a hall of shame of these pirates, then maybe we could avoid them on ebay and elsewhere. |

Darren wrote: | We don't approve of our data being passed on with a device but understand it happens. | Sorry, Darren. My transgression was a long time ago and I knew it wouldn't become piracy, just a new customer. However, when I dispose of whichever when I get the next new one, I'll clean out the cameras first (or maybe load up a pretty old set as a sales ploy?). _________________ Dennis

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BitTorrent
it's full name is 'bittorrent' and is basically a method of sharing files between users without sites having to incur massive bandwidth issues
