I've heard that SPECS cameras are lane-specific on multi-laned roads.
What I've heard is that lanes 1, 2 & 3 on a motorway (or lanes 1 & 2 on a dual carriageway) each have a camera to 'tag' cars travelling along that lane, which has its own 'paired' camera further up the road.
This would mean that if you change lanes between cameras, you won't get 'clocked' because the cameras don't see you passing through a pair and therefore can't measure your average speed.
Does anybody know if there's any truth in this, or is it just rumour-mongering?
Obviously, SPECS cameras are paired on single carriageway roads, so there's no avoiding them. _________________ Andy

Search and ye shall find! There's been a fair bit of discussion on this - wasn't there a Daily Mail or BBC thing about it?
To date, as far as I'm aware, nobody has tested the lane swapping theory by belting through at 90 and switching lanes. Feel free and let us know.
Personally I don't believe it - how many places have you seen where there is only one camera for a two or even three lane stretch? _________________ Dennis

Don't be sorry, no problem, just trying not to duplicate reply's, as this subject keeps coming up.

What you need is someone with a vehicle registered abroad and get them to do it and see if they get away with it..................Hang on , they already do ! _________________ Keith

Yes they do, but what us mere tax payers don't know is whether their number plate is photographed for the rogues' gallery.
I think there should be checks at the border where motoring offences are sorted and fines are paid - the Germans stop you and make you cough up before crossing the border, so why can't we?? _________________ Andy
