ViaMichelin Navigation X-980T 3D view

Yesterday I went to the GPS Expo and saw the 980T. I really liked what I saw,

I have used TomTom products for a long time and I am looking to replace my 700 and it is a close run match between the 910, the new XL (great screen) and the 980T, over the time I have had my 700 I have become used to the 3D map view and dont really want a device that does not have that. Can anybody who has a 980T tell me if whilst driving a planned route you can have the map in 3D view. The manual seem to suggest that the 3D view is only available when in the free navigation mode. ie no planned route. Is this correct? If it is bye bye 980T.

Also even though its has a 4.3 screen it still looks rather small, any views on that?
