So today I've written saying I made a mistake and could I get the W&CE map for the 710 for the difference of about £6. I'm not getting grumpy about different coverage until they decline.

Good luck, and let us know how it goes. So far TomTom has refused to do the same with the WE map I purchased thinking the only difference between WE and W&CE was geographical coverage...

A Spanish guy posted this. He was pretty cross too
"As you can see, Western Europe v675 lacks detail, parking entrances and inner roads are not present, while Iberia and Western & Central maps look identical"
Edit: Also the one-way status of streets seems to dissappeared on the WE map.

In WE_675

The same place on WE&CE_V675

Julf, are you going to move forward with your action against TomTom? Whilst there isn't a lot, the evidence is now pretty clear.

I'm sure we'd all be interested to hear how (if) TomTom respond.

Definitely. Talking to the Dutch Consumer Association. Will let you know what comes out of it.

Still no reply from TT (except auto acknowledgement saying they'll reply within 24 hours). I have now sent them a reminder.

Just an update re the new GB map (675).

I've driven a 1,000 miles or so on it now and can't say I've noticed much difference at all to be honest.

The one area that I was hoping for an improvement is the A1 past Ferrybridge power station and the "new" road is on the map now. It used to continually say "turn left", "turn right" as it had you driving across a field !!

I know of 4 or 5 people at work that got the tomtom's at the same time as me and I suggested that they contact CS to get the new maps and they've all managed it.

I am still struggling to get the W&CE map instead of WE map for my GO710. I bought (yes, paid for) both WE (for 710) and W&CE (for 700), thinking they were the same and want to get W&CE for 710 since I discovered they're different. TT and I are into a long-winded debate about them saying I need two accounts for two maps, even though they took my money and allowed me to download both with only one account and me saying I'm a single person with a single computer and a single e-mail address. It's getting very difficult - I'm now trying the fuzzy brained old man approach. You can understand why some people go the piracy route, which I absolutely refuse to do and condemn - I've offered TT the money (not the full price, the extra £6 difference between the two map downloads), I've told them I WANT to give them the money. Confused

Excellent! Thanks! Now I at least have some real ammo!

Again, actual examples would be useful.

OK.

Notice that N. Bolivar is correctly marked as one-way street in the old map, and that this useful bit of information has been omitted in the new one?

Also, the little plaza at the bottom of the map. Correctly drawn as rectangle in the old map, with one-way streets leading around it counter-clockwise? The newer version of the map omits the one-way information, and to make up for it, I guess, invents a road where there never ever has been one. In fact that "street" is running right through the courthouse. The courthouse has been there since 1901, before that, there were other courthouses in the same place, and before /these/ there was woodlands.

Ok guys just for the benefit, i have the new map and was not impresed with it at all. Some locations i have found are still the same as the 6.60, like roundabouts still in areas that have had traffic lights for 2-3 years. Some roads that should be there are unamed still. My advise is use the Western Europe maps as they are more up to date that the 6.75 but thats my opinion, any one want to challenge my probs please feal free

dave

I was disappointed to see a dual carriage way which has been in use for about 3 years, near us, not shown in 6.6. Didn't inspire confidence. Has anyone seen any improvement in the 6.75 GB map compared to 6.6?

Do 6 & 7 digits work OK or are you limited to only 4 characters?
