Not very impressive Garmin customer experience

Unfortunately Garmin's CS is getting an increasing poor reputation. I had a problem with lost maps on my NUVi 660, & they didn't want to know or discuss the point, other than me sending a 2 week old unit back, & Garmin charging for a repair!!! I sent it back to my original vendor (GPS) who replaced it in 3 days.
Other than not buy from them, its difficult to know how to influence an improvement in their attitude, when I am happy with the product.
