iPaq 3830 - missing asset tag - won't upgrade

My Dad has an iPaq 3830 which he would like upgraded from Pocket PC 2002 to Windows Mobile 2003. The problem is, someone has flashed it with a dodgy flash which has lost the asset tag and the 2003 uprgade won't load. Can anyone help me to get the iPaq back to factory original state with the asset tag so I can upgrade it?

the only way would be to flash it with an original rom or a 2003 rom if can find one
