I recently bought a 510, and could get the RDS traffic signal if I was within abou 6 miles of Swindon (I believe there is a Classic FM transmitter near Swindon). Since the %10 updtaed from 6.522 to 6.524 I am now unable to get the signal, even with typing in the correct frequency. The unit sits at that frequency for a minute or so and then moves on. It often stops for quite a while at non Classic FM frequencies too.

It looks like TomTom have messed something up with this release, is there any way to move back to an earlier application version? I have tried going to the backup I made (about 248MB) when I first got it, but the applicaion doesn't get changed although other things do.

Using TT Home on the PC, can you delete it and install the previous version instead? That should work, assuming you have the old version still (my TT Home does).

I don't think I have the old version.

An update in the tuning, this eveing it tuned in to Classic FM for about 6 miles (by running the cable vertically unlike the instructions), then it lost the signal and re-tuned to GWR FM, spent a while trying to download traffic info (which it can't on that station). I thought the problem of locking on to stations that were not broadcasting traffic (I run 6.524)?

Am I the first?

An e:mail just in from TT to say they replacing the TMC for us in Quarter 2.

What a relief - but it shows the message has finally registered.

I'll now buy an FM unit.

Come on Simon,

How are they going to know you have a problem if you haven't told them?

I've been speaking to them almost daily.

Slightly badly worded post, what I meant was are they doing a complete product recall i.e. they accept that EVREYONE has or is going to have a problem? Or are they keeping the fact that the product is next to useless (in the UK at least) and only replace ones where people have complained to them?

I have logged my problem with them, as I work in Swindon, which is the location of one of the Classic FM transmitters and even here I struggle to get a lock at all.

Simon,

I can't imagine them doing a total product recall in the way that a model of car is recalled when they find a fault in the steering.

I am sure they will emulate the procedure they have used with the mounts that people have found problems with.

What surprises me at the moment is that I seem to be the only person around here who has had the e:mail.

But there was no problem at all in getting replacement mounts once TT acknowledged there was a problem. I guess a similar system will be set up to replace the old TMC's.

But note the word 'guess'. I am not nearly as close to TT as several of the posters around here.

After reporting my TMC receiver unfit for purpose at the end of January and receiveing a replacement unit (also unfit for purpose) and detailed instructions on how to make it work (one of 8 responses from TomTom on this issue) I today received the email I think Tony is referring to:

"The TomTom RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver was designed to provide seamless integration of RDS-TMC traffic information with the user-interface of the TomTom GO, providing customers with the best traffic experience on the market.

Through listening to valuable customer feedback, however, it has come to our attention that in some cases the RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver does not live up to our customers’ expectations.

TomTom has taken your feedback very seriously and you will be offered a replacement of your RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver, a new version of which will feature improved performance and which we strive to have available Q2 2007.

We have taken note of your details, and will contact you when the revised version is available (in the course of Q2 2007). We will then let you know how to proceed in order to have your receiver replaced."
