yeah i saw this too! i'm very very dissapointed!!! i've been a loyal customer since TTN2 and what do i get!
ok... ok... cool down... maybe a map purchase will be cheaper. i'm still going to wait and see... but i'm not going to upgrade if it is more expensive than what i spent upgrading from TTN3 to TTN5. :x _________________ tomtom 940 live/tt active dock holder/tt rds-tmc traffic receiver usb |

It is a case of wait and see. TomTom know who their exisiting customers are and can see if they are buying the full TT6 or either waiting for the upgrade or not buying. If they see their existing customer base is not buying they may introduce an upgrade price.
However if many of the existing users rush and buy TT6 at full price so they can have the latest toy today, the remainder may never get an upgrade price.
Of course TomTom will get money in quicker if it sells its limited production run to the highest payers first.
As there is little difference between TT5 & 6 and the UK is not exactly having a new network of roads built requiring new maps, I will just sit it out and see what happens. If no upgrade price I may not buy it or choose an alternative product, either from TomTom or another manufacturer. |

Yup, I think you're both right. A mod here (with inside knowledge!) has suggested that TT are looking at (chargeable) Map upgrades for TT5 (not requiring Nav 6) at some point in the future, so perhaps that's the strategy they'll follow. I'd be suspicious that such good intentions will turn to vapour-ware, but let's see. _________________ iPhone 4/4S (iOS 5.1.1); TomTom Western Europe (1.10)/USA & Canada (1.10); CoPilot for iPhone (8), UK mapping, Mac OS 10.8/XP Pro/Win7; Tongue firmly in cheek! |
