I'm new to the GO 910 and to this forum. Let me say that I love my TomTom, but I've been a little disappointed with some of the problems I've experienced, and I've yet to hear back from TomTom customer support. So I thought I would post here to see if you guys can help.

1. When my TomTom is docked in my car, and plugged into the cigarette lighter, it turns on when the car is started. This is good. However, it does not turn off. You must manually turn it off or it will drain the battery. Is there a fix for this?

2. I don't get a solid connection in the windshield dock. Sometimes I will notice that the power light is not on. I jiggle the unit, and the light goes on. It is physically held in place, but some of the connections must not be very good. Has anyone seen this problem? It may be related to #1 above - maybe my windshield dock is defective.

3. I had it only about 3 days and it wouldn't turn on one day. I thought maybe the battery was drained due to problem #1, so I charged it for a while. The only way I could get it turned on was with the reset button. After doing that, the light sensor stopped working for a couple days. It wouldn't switch between day and night colors automtically. Then it mysteriously started working. It's been fine for about 4 days.

4. I have an LG VX9800 cell phone with EDVO and full networking capabilities. I have connected via BlueTooth, but TomTom says it does not have data capabilities, so I can't use any advanced features like TomTomPLUS or SMS. I see there are no LG phones on the compatibility list. Does anyone know if there will be some support in the future? Is this a TomTom problem or an LG problem?

5. This is a very minor problem, but in some places here in the US, you don't make left turns. You make left-hand U-turns, then turn right. That is not the case where I live (Chicago, IL) yet sometimes I seem to be instructed to do that. Is there a setting that I missed which controls this?

Thanks for reading this far. I know I have a lot of questions, and I'm sure I will have more as I get to know my new little buddy.

Roger

Didn't do enough reading before posting this - sorry guys.

1. This was a recent change in the firmware, designed to address problem #2, although not a very good solution, IMO.
2. Looks like this problem is a possible quality problem with the mount. Others have reported this as well.
3. Others reported this after updating firmware. Maybe this was a one time issue.
4. and 5. Still open issues.

First of all welcome to the forum.

This "modification" was brought about due to the unit disconnecting from the mount and then switching off, the only fix is to roll the unit back to the as supplied version of the TomTom software - not ideal, I would like to see an option to enable/ disable this "feature" but sadly it is not there

Possibly defective, but have you ensured the device is correctly locked into place? firstly the attachment to the screen requires to be turned untill two "clicks" can be heard from the unit, also when you mount the device to the car holder it will take some force to engauge the unit correctly, I found practice by holding both the 910 and the car mount in both hands, away from the car will give you an idea of the force required.

Quite possible down to it becoming discharged i.e. left switched on, although I carry a pin for use with the reset switch in the case of my 910, if it goes wrong give it a prod

If the unit isn't listed as compatable then it is little suprise it doesn't work, there are periodic upgrades available automatically via the TomTom Home application, but this is no sure fire method that a compatable driver will be made available for your phone, if you need full phone connectivity upgrade/ change your phone (it is cheaper)

No setting for this (as far as I know) but I don't drive across the "pond"
