Ive been reading that people have been having problems with the new mounts.. (what exactly was it?? the unit falling of its mount??)

Has this been rectified by Tom Tom yet?? for example all new units sold now will have the modified mounts??

Cheers

Nick

The main problem is that the connnection is not as positive as that of the old models. This means that the device can lose contact with with the connections of the mount if you drive over a rough road... or a pebble!

This causes the Tom Tom to think that you have reached the end of your journey and power down - this is a feature that cannot be switched off.

Mine is currently with Tom Tom being looked at so I can't actually tell you iF Tom Tom have fixed it yet.

Other people hve reported that the mount droops under the weight of the device, but this may be due to it not being engaged poperly - there are two clicks to engage - the first locks the mount to the windscreen - the second locks the arm of the mount in position.

Not everyone has had this problem. Mine has been trouble-free since I bought it. It does take a bit of getting used to. The action required to connect to the mount is a bit awkward and solprior is right about the two clicks. I think the droop problem is because, when people are attaching the mount to the windscreen, the knob has to be turned to a first click to mount the unit and a second to secure it after adjusting viewing angle etc. If you don't do the second click, it would indeed droop.

I suspect only TomTom know how many units have been sent back because of the mount problem!
