Try releasing/ removing the battery then put it back in the unit , soft reset and try switching back on both on and off charge, I have known the battery lock switch come undone on my unit (different ipaq) but same type of behaviour - Mike
if the batt was dead, six hours wont be enough time try it over night.
i had one that i let the batt run down and it took a day on charge to start up again.
just for get it for a day, if that dont sort it then its going to be more than a charging problem
if i remember its the cpu that controls the charging but if the batt is dead then the cpu cant turn the charing on to full, but it will slow charge and i mean slow.
