Hi,

Sorry to hear you are having problems. Out of interest did you use the latest Web Updater, or did you update the software 'manually'?

I have just updated two units (one for a friend) using the Web Updater without any problems. It did take a bit longer than I expected though, and it is important to wait until it actually tells you that it has completed the upgrade, before unplugging the device.

That's not much help to you now though... I presume you have tried plugging the i3 into your PC again and then turning it on?

Haven't you got another one sitting around somewhere, say from a digital camera?

I just updated to 2.9 (and new web updater).

When I click "where to", as well as the usual annoying list of countries, it now give Belgium spelled in 3 languages and Wales, Channel islands, Holland and norway in 2.

Does anyone else have this?

More importantly, does anyone know how to get rid of it?

I tried changing the language to French then back to english, but same thing...

That doesn't sound too encouraging!

As you mentioned, you could contact Garmin directly, but I would have thought you might be better off just returning the unit to the place of purchase, and seeing if you can get them to exchange it under warranty.

Good luck anyway!

Anyone else feels the unit is faster as a whole?

I have a Renault Megane with a Thermal Windscreen so i have an Antenna which runs to the rear parcel-shelf. I also back my car in to the drive so when i get in the car the antenna is in a poor reception area with the house right behind it. I usually find it takes about 45-60 seconds to get a lock. I then discover i can cut this to 30 seconds if i move a few feet up the drive.

Today after 2.9 Firmware upgrade it got lock in under 10 seconds without having moved the car. When i first got the i3 it took me 20 minutes to get the first lock in the garden after flashing from 2.6 to 2.7. It then got a lock in under 2 seconds in another area where it had previously taken 30 seconds or more.

The display seems smoother and doesn't jump so much for one screen to the next.

Finally it seems to calculate the routes quicker and when i had to take a diversion it seemed to calculate the new route quicker.

Or just me?

Me too.

Just discovered - no more spaces in postcodes!!! Yay!!

When selecting a country it jumps to the spell list and not the country list so you have to back arrow out to select your country. No major hardship.

Were you using the beta before 2.90?

Or are you comparing it to 2.70?

With computer software, at least, it's often observable that betas can be a fair bit slower than gold code, on account of all the error trapping and debugging code that's normally in betas.

I suppose if it was 2.82 that was a fair bit slower for you, that would explain it.

If it was 2.7 that you're comparing with, well I guess they've just upped their game ;-)
