Ok I know the subject hasnt really sold but I really love the O2 XDA Mini S but there is a problem on it that is driving my insane and on the VERGE of returning it.
It was working fine but one day i had set the alarm on it, and in all fairness it woke me up, then I switched it up. But for some reason every 10 seconds or keeps going, even after I switch ALL of the notifcations off and everything. Even after taking the battery out AND doing a soft reset.
The light at the top is flashing orange if that helps. Evertually when I have turned everything off it will stop, but I need my alarm and reminders and all that
Thanks once again for your time, look forward for your suggestions and really really really hope you can help me. _________________ Tcepser

The alarm issue has been reported across several variants of this device. The fix is in the later ROM releases. Your current version is shown in start/settings/system/device info. Contact your provider or Google for the latest ROM. Take note the update involves a full format so be prepared to backup data and contacts etc and reinstall apps. Took my TMobile ROM about 20 min to reboot. |

Following a new ROM install I would re-install the applications from the PC via Active Sync, a back-up can at times mess up a new ROM and cannot be relied upon to work 100% - just bear this in mind if you decide to re-flash the unit - Mike |

Check which version of ROM you are using on the device and if its earlier than the one from here http://www.my-xda.com/xdaminis_soft3.html then upgrade, if not leave it alone, as you have the latest O2 official software, alternatively you might want to mess around trying different ROMs from other service providers (note doing this this will also invalidate any waranty) - not recomended - Mike |

O2 update page has ROM updates. http://www.my-xda.com/xdaminis_soft.html
Big tip here. Install the 14 day demo of Backup Manager and make a full backup of your device using the advanced settings and make the destination your SD card.
http://www.sunnysoft.com/en_clanek.php?clanekid=51
This way if everything turns sour, a tap on the backup icon on the SD card (or the created PC Backup file) will restore your device including the ROM prior to the update. |

It seems that I already have the most update version. I did the backup as you suggested, and installed a new version anyway, then restored it but it was still doing it. I then got angry and did a hardware reset.
What I have been doing when hardware resetting is when the O2 items load up during the install I press the reset button, this will stop the O2 items from installing, however on this occasion I have let it be.
I now have an XDA mini S that is certainly not the fastest but it seems to be working, for now! The big test is 2morrow morning as I need my alarm so I shall keep you updated.
Thank you for your suggestions so far, I really do appreciate it. Drinks in the air to the best PocketPC forum around! _________________ Tcepser

If this is the same as other O2 XDA devices when you re-load the OS (hard reset) at some point near the end of the install you get an option for selection of personal or corporate install, if you select Corporate then enter the code 0506 the phone won't load the O2 customisation (rubish that it is, this is the first thing that O2 customer support sugest when you ask them about a slow XDA), then try it again - Mike |

Whatever happens bear with it for a while as it is reported that HTC is to release a major ROM update next month which will filter down through all providers. |

Thanks for your tip mullet, I have already installed a fresh copy of the ROM with O2s pre installed items and currently it seems to be working fine, however I do not want O2s things so I will wait for the update of the ROM before I pluck up the courage to remove them.
Thanks once again everyone _________________ Tcepser
