No, it's much better that you post what you actually did to rectify it, in order that others might learn. _________________ Tim |

ok no probs,,,,,not sure what the problem was to be honest, i connected it back to the pc, uploaded the updated map files on to my garmin, as it was uploading the screen changed to loader, then after it completed it said updates complete and the screen cam back on! result!! the only possible reason i can think of it happening was i was messing about trying to sort out the speed cameras and poi onto it(failing completely!!) and i think i erased the files on the garmin, hence the error message saying system software failure, so i think it was my own stupid doing. i was all really to bolt back to comet with it aswell!! phew.. i also picked up my external ariel today,,my focus has a front heated screen, so wanted to make sure i got the best possible signal! :D |

Bazer100 mentions that he has a Focus, and is fitting an exteral ariel (glad he wrote that word, so I can copy it as I always spell it wrongly!). I also have a Focus, and bought an external ariel for the same reason. TBH, I now don't think the heated windscreen is really a problem, as I was getting pretty good reception anyway. However, I bought the ariel as it was only £9.99 (Maplins). It made a great difference, as I always get 5 bars now, which I assume will increase accuracy. I've routed the ariel by clamping it magnetically to the underside of the roof, at the top of the rear hatch opening (just slightly pull the roof lining back, where it meets the rubber seal. The cable was taken through the boot, then under the door treads (don't know the proper name for them, but I'm sure you know what I mean) and up to the right hand side of the dash, where my i3 lives. Pretty invisible, and no likliehood of the cable getting snagged etc. |

Just goes to show that you shouldn't copy. Ariel is a washing powder; what you are talking about is an aerial. _________________ Tim |

Thank you Tim. I have just written "The word is spelt "aerial"" one hundred times! |
