If I try to navigate to one of the points in the extreme of Europe that shows under address search I get the message above.

Any advice?

How about if you go to a point part way there and try and navigate from there? Maybe there's an assumption, when Garmin were specing the memory capacity, that there is only so far that you can travel in one hop. Admittedly a trip the full length of the M1 when compared to a drive across the centre of London would probably be considerably less memory intensive. Although in this day and age the latter would probably take longer anyway Laughing

The I3 does not have enough memory. Garmin realy skimped on the bare minimum. Still I dont think this matters in this respect, in reality you would use the I3 to navigate to your ferry port. Letting it do all the navigation it would have to choose a diferent channel crossing to the one you may have booked.
The point you mention though is more of a problem though if you let the I3 calculate a long route for you (say 400 miles) and then for some reason it needs to recalculate the route. It can take a real long time to recalculate the route and when you are moving and if you have taken a wrong turn it can end up in some recalculating loop unless you just park up and wait for it to sort its self out.

C3xx have more memory and dont suffer this problem anything like as bad, although theres still time to recalculate its less.
My C3xx is perfectly happy calculating a route to the extremes of Europe, I just tried setting my C310 to calculate the route back home from Capetown SouthAfrica and admittedly it took a good 30 40 seconds or so but it dod not run out of memory

are the euro base maps navigable? if not then it might not be that it's out of memory just that it's unable to give a route or directions on maps it doesn't actually have?

As the i3 isn't capable of route planning as such, just point-to-point navigation, the ability to create routes for more than one day of travelling isn't really required. More sophisticated GPS units that do allow route planning obviously require more memory so as to enable you to plan a weeks holiday for example.

Yes the i3 is built down to a price, if you want a higher spec unit then you'll have to spend more than £99.

Yes they are. The problem is as it says Not enough Memory available.

It would be interesting to know if the I5 has the same problem. I5 comes with full Europe but is the memory bumped up to cope or is the I5 internally the same as the I3?
