Maps V.8

I read here that some people have been issued with some unlock code by Garmin? whatever with reference to Maps V.8.

I would like V.8 maps. Whats the current story on V.8 maps from Garmin. Are some people getting V.8 maps. Can I get V.8 maps? I bought my I3 in September.
I registered my I3 online with Garmin. I heared nothing from them since.

i3's with version 8 maps and i3's with version 7 maps have been purchased from various outlets since september 2005....if you got a v8 map , well done , if you got a v7 map, it has been suggested on this forum that these peeps will have the oppertunity to '' upgrade '' to v8 maps ...when or how nobody knows....by the way this has nothing to do with the firmware upgarades, ie v2.5 to v2.7...
