Hello

I have been using my Tomtom 300 for the last 6 months with no problems, it was version 5.2?? and accepted speed camera alerts/Real voice camera warnings, New splash screens etc In fact no problems with anything

Last week i purchased a Tomtom Rider for the bike with a version # 5.410 which i have updated now to 5.420 thinking i was being clever

So here lies the problem, the Real camera voice warnings do not work, and having read loads and loads of threads on this subject i know why.

I can get garbage speech, or short mumblings like GATSO 30, but i want what i have on the 300 and that is

GATSO AHEAD SPEED LIMIT 30 MILES PER HOUR
MOBILE CAMERA AHEAD SPEED LIMIT 40 MILES PER HOUR

ETC ETC ETC

So i tried using the Card from my Tomtom300 in the Rider, No joy just freezes every time and needs a reset

Went back to version 5.410 on the Rider, no joy Real camera warnings still dont work even using the correct version # data chk file

I want the Rider the same as the 300 set up, so would it work if i installed version # 5.2?? on the Rider, ie went backwards and not forwards, I am not bothered about loosing all the extra that version 5.420 brings i just want speed camera warnings as on my 300 IE

GATSO AHEAD SPEED LIMIT 40 Miles per hour

So will i do any damage to the Rider by doing this backwards version upgrade, as i have loads of SD cards so backups are not a worry

Finally i note that the SD card memory on the 300 is about 118 meg but the Rider SD card is only 98.6 meg, why is this any ideas please

Hope you can help, sorry post so long winded

Alan

I'm using real voice warnings on a TTG500 running 5.42 with no problem. I used POIExtend from Ray Flan's site.

Hi Jlee

Just been to Ray's site and took the trouble to set it all up, however unless i am missing something it is not what i want

It still gives out all the Bell/whistles/horn sonds etc and NOT voice spoken commands as i have on the 300 using SDK software

so am i missing a link here or is that all the site does

Any replies appreciated especially whether i can use a backward version on the Rider to achieve what i need

regards Alan

SDK software does not work on the latest firmware update.

You need to download the appropriate file from the list on this page and follow the instructions to replace the bells and whistles with voices.

All sorted thanks to Rayflan

Tom Tom One users will need V5.420 and will need to use POI extended warnings 1.0d from this link ...

http://www.tomtomsatnav.info/poiextendgo5_42.zip

Sorry if this is a repeat of info already given

And once youve done it acouple of times it becomes super easy !!

Thanks again Rayflan

If your using the POI Extend software you used for your TT300 Pre V5.42 this should be version 1.0a I used this and it failed to work correctly

Berekely

could you please explain your answer, i do not understand

"What tool are you using for poi extend"

I am just downloading the appropiate data.chk file to the desk top renaming it from its original name to data.chk then replacing the one on the SD card with the new renamed one off the desktop.and then going to manage poi etc and doing the deeds to change from bleeps to voice

sometimes they half work and i get voice garbage, other times all i get is the bells and whistles

Regards Alan

Another Thought , sorry about this but I cant edit my posts and Im supposed to be working here ... DOH

You havent said whether your extracting your TTN and creating your own POI data.chk file using the POI extend tool or if youve extracted your TTN and are using a pre made data.chk file from Rays website

OK so your using a pre made data.chk file, have you extracted your TTN and copied it into the Root folder of the SD card

If you have extractted the ttn and dropped it along with your data.chk file in to the root dir of the SD card and it doesnt work , I would try going back to your previous version on 5.410 and re downloading the 5.420 update and re installing as at this point it sounds like youve done it all spot on
