Can anyone help me with a small difficulty. I've recently changed my Mio168 TomTom for a Quest as it should be more bike-proof. Using the POI editor and Streetmap website I created a number of places for the Mio but when I try to create a waypoint using a similar techniqe it can be miles out. For instance, the point where the A4117 meets the B4214 has coordinates of N52:22:23 W2:36:07 but when input to Mapsource they show a point about 0.3 miles south. I've tried changing the preferences to degs, mins and seconds but it's still out. I realise that I could just use Mapsource to create them again (there are only about 25 of them) but I'm interested to know why there is a difference and which is the more accurate.

Thanks

Meaty

This is probably a map datum thing.

I agree with the previous poster, you may be introducing a datum shift somewhere in the calculations, most likely between the WGS84 datum used for GPS and the OSGB36 datum used for OS mapping.
Or you may just have bad info about the positions. You mentioned Streetmap - when I looked for that junction:
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=359225&y=275340
It showed different co-ordinates to the ones you quote, namely:
N52:22:28 W002:36:01
