just got my new i3 and im just wondering how POI data is made. Is there any software that i can get to make my own as for work i have some funny locations to find, and it would be usefull to add them onto my sat nav for ease of use!
If there is software where can i get it from, how much is it and how hard is it to use, given that im no computer programmer!!
thanks! |

have a look at www.garminpoi.co.uk
basically you need a .csv file (made in excel or similar) with 4 columns: latitude, longitude, name, info
lat/long can be got from interwebnet map sites such as streetmap.co.uk etc

you can add locations to the i3 by holing down the scroll whell when you at that location it will ask you to name it and saves it on you flash card

rodtrotter, that's true too. however,if there's lots of places to do it's quicker (just) to make a csv file. if it'sone or 2places then do as rodtrotter says!

I wish it did store them on the flash card - it would make extracting stored locations of new cameras much easier...
As said above, Long/Lat can be found for places from www.streetmap.co.uk or www.multimap.co.uk
You don't need Excel - just use Notepad, and make sure that you save your new POIs as a CSV file. Load an existing file into Notepad to see how it's done. |

thanks for your replys!! i have about 150 locations to add!! so a csv file if the way forward! i'm guessing it doesn't matter if the poi's are not on the 'roads' as such when it comes to the navgating the route?? |
