Hi

Does anybody know where you can get european map upgrades from for individual countrys at low prices. Re there any sites where you can just download new maps for a price(or free would be better!),Also would it be legal for someone who has a map of say Italy(just an example) to share that map with others by emailing it or making it available for someone to download(problably a stupid question but ye never know). Lastly is there anywhere you can get unoficial map downloads from(if thats possible).

Cheers
dave

p.s. sorry if these questions have been asked a million times before ive only had i3 a couple of days and its my first.

p.p.s
does anyone have any links to other forums or websites relating to the Garmin i3.

You should follow this thread: http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=32683

You can find preprogramed TransFlash cards for i2/i3 here:
- for France - http://www.gpsw.co.uk/details/prod2984.html
- for Spain & Portugal - http://www.gpsw.co.uk/details/prod2985.html

I do not know any places where you can download from.

There are three types of maps:

1. Garmin Mapsource maps. These are fairly expensive and locked to a particular GPS unit. If you have a GPS unit which comes with the maps on CD then you can unlock the maps for two GPS units owned by you. You won't find instructions on how to obtain, make or distribute illegal copies of these maps on this forum.

2. Third party map providers. There are a list of them on Garmin's website and they do maps for some of the more out-of-the-way places. http://www.garmin.com/cartography/mpc/

3. Home made maps. A few people have made their own maps for Garmin units. They aren't high quality like the Mapsource maps. have a look at http://www.elsinga.org/maps.html
