On my original ( stolen ) GO i was able to change the warning tones to spoken words ie: GATSO speed , SPECS , RED LIGHT etc , a feature i miss , particulary when concentrating on the road , it would be brilliant to do that on the I3 ( but not complaining )

Hi guys,

I got intrigued with this post so thought I would have a dabble (im a programmer).

Anyway, I wrote a small utility that splits the file and made a list of what the different samples are. If anyone wants to change a couple then I dont mind trying to put it back together.

There's a few others that aren't quite right either - but I'll leave it up to you to find out which... :P

By popular request, my i3 voice utilities can now be downloaded from here:

http://tinyurl.com/kbzrm

Note that you'll need a suitable TransFlash card reader to use them - it's not possible to do this via USB (yet).

Enjoy ;)

Ash10, Nice bit of work there :D just got all the files off my i3, although like you said earlier doing a complete voice change might take some time, lots of files - Might have a mess with it though, thanks for the tool sets to split and re-build the files - Mike

Once split, say I replace the recalculating with something a little more entertaining.... and save it in the correct format does it mateer if the resulting file to be repacked is larger than the original?

I have backed up my TF card so if I stop wussing about I'll try this and report back just need a confidence boost of someoen to say they have tried it already... call me a sheep.

Without consideration for the safety of Gabby I went for it, I ran the unpack utility all went fine, got a list of all the voice files, downloaded a Homer Simpson "Awwww CRAP!", opened it with sound recorder, saved it in the format as per instructions in the text file (slightly larger than the original), renamed the file Recalculating, copied the file over the utility output version of recalculating, ran the repack utility, then copied the resulting voice file back to my TF card, popped it back in my i3, changed to English American, turned off, turned on, changed back to English British, selected a destination and off I went, when I made a wrong turn I waited with baited breath...... and.... silence Sad

My i3 recalculated but without a sound.....

Just reloaded my backup English British voice file......

Questions?

Do you have to modify the original unpacked file instead of paste over it with another sound named the same in the correct format?

Has anybody else tried this or had any joy with?

As for BigE.... time and effort has been put into this by Ash so I would just remember its free.....

Ah ha.......

I saved my replacement for Recalculating as type:

Microsoft ADPCM

not.....

IMA ADPCM

May have caused my silence?

I will report back once I have tested this.

:D AWESOME!! :D

Note my previous post when you convert the sound file make sure it is as per Ash's instructions and is IMA ADPCM not Microsoft ADPCM.

This works fantasic much praise to Ash.

My i3 when recalculating now says in the voice of Homer Simpson....

"Awwww CRAP!"
