I've read comments, previously, as to how GPSs work in tunnels, and speculation as to how the i3 would operate.

Today I drove onto the M58 from the southbound exit of the M6 (J26). To do this, you drive under a bridge which carries a carriageway. This leads on to a (part-time) traffic light controlled big roundabout. And today I slowed to a stop in exactly the middle of the underside of the bridge - so effectively in a small tunnel.

I would have waited a little bit whilst the light cycle changed - maybe 30 seconds, or a minute or so. During this time, the i3 must have lost any signal - but didn't say anything about that, it just assumed I'd carried on at a similar pace as before it must have lost signal, because whilst I was stationary, it was showing my progress getting onto, and driving on the M58.

Once I started moving again, and emerged from the "tunnel" / bridge, it caught up pretty fast, because at least the banner and (I think) directions were correct for the roundabout I immediately drove on to.

So I guess the situation is that the i3 assumes - when you get a break in coverage due to tunnels and bridges, that you've carried on in much the fashion you did before it lost signal.

Yes, that's what it appears to do. A few weeks ago we were in a tunnel on the M25 just before needing to take an exit on to the M11. The i3 gave us the appropriate instruction before we emerged from the tunnel.
