Hi folks, Just wanting to check about Wayfinder software on a Sony Ericsson smartphone and its compatibility with Bluetooth GPS receivers. I've just ordered a Solar unit from an ebay seller, who assures me that it will be compatible, but the Wayfinder retailer (TotalGPS) says it won't be (but then they want to sell me the more expensive Wayfinder kit including another receiver, don't they?). Anyone out there able to advise before I blow my dough completely?

Thanks in advance to all helpful respondents...

Oz, not tried myself however the P910 connects to generic bluetooth items. GPS receivers aren't any different and so that combination will be fine. Wayfinder will use any bluetooth GPS receiver linked to the phone so no problem there either. The problem could be the performance of the GPS unit you are looking at. Is it Sirf3? If not it may have difficulty in built up areas and heat reflective / heated windscreen also cause problems.

Hope this helps. :D

Wayfinder themselves advise that they have some compatibility issues with GPS receivers. Not all receivers are the same and some can drop the signal more than others dependant on what software and hardware combination you have.
