Hi,

Bit of clarification please?

Today I bought a i3 and upgraded the OS to 2.7, down loaded the Garmin POI loader tool and down loaded the Garmin POIs from http://www.MaFt.co.uk/garmin/download.htm

I have read
http://www.pocketgpsworld.com/Garmin%20POI%20Loader%20install.pdf
in this document it says that the speed camera ZIP will have a Garmin folder or the structure, it doesn't. I can see the different files with data structured for types of GPS, but can see no reference to Garmin, only "other".

My question is which of the file/s in pocketgps_uk_sc_oct05 should I extract into the same folder containing the mafts Garmin POIs and BMP files read to be transferred to the i3 with the POI loader tool?

Cheers

John

put the poi loader into one folder...then put the poi's into another folder..run the loader and point it to the poi folder...

Thanks for your response, but it doesn't really answer the question. I'm OK with using the POI installer, nice and simple.

To reiterate the question was
in the abscence of a file path or folder name of "Garmin" in the zipped file v3.104 which of the .csv file/s ( and others) do I unzip into a POI folder ready for installation all 222 or just specific files?

If you are saying to unzip all 222 files into the POI folder surely many of these files are duplicated and some will be in the wrong format for the i3?
There are different data layout for different types of GPS .e.g. .csv files for CP5, Destinator 3, Memory Map, other, then some single .CSV files

Sorry still confused as there is no definitive "unzip and installl all" or "unzip just x,y and z" in the Dummies Guide.

cheers

John

I think we are at cross purposes here.

1. Go to MaFt's site http://www.MaFt.co.uk/garmin/download.htm and download MaFt's POIs (first line).
2. Unzip the files into a directory of your choice eg My documents/Garmin/POIs
3. Start the POILoader
4. Get to the screen where it asks which directory the POIs are in.
5. Click on Browse to browse to the directory at 2 above
6. Check that units are 'Feet & MPH'
7. Go for it!

There are a total of some 48 different POI files. The POILoader will load all that it finds in the directory so if you don't want some of them :o then you need to delete them and the equivalent bmp file.

When you come to reload your POIs, again, the loader will delete your previous set and then write the new set.

I find this somewhat confusing as well. On the pocketgps page for speedcameras you can, as you say download, a file called pocketgps_uk_sc_oct05.zip. But there is also a Garmin icon leading to a dedicated garmin POI loader database. The file on that page is called garmin-oct05.zip which contains nothing but .csv and .bmp files. Isn't this the file we should be using?

But MaFt's file doesn't contain speedcameras. It would appear that there is a dedicated Garmin zip file which hasn't been mentioned here. Therefore I'm confused .... easily done :D
