Agreed ... that's exactly what I did .. I therefore don't understand the need for references to the "other" subdirectory in the file pocketgps_uk_sc_oct05.zip anymore.

OH NO!!! Now I'm confused, too (and I really thought I had it straight).
I've been loading the six CSV files from the main database (in the "other" folder) perfectly well. But this dedicated Garmn folder, which I hadn't seen before, has lots more files. Is it the same data but under diffeerent file names? Or have I been missing out?
Similarly, I used the bmps supplied by MaFt (all hail Him!) which matched perfectly the csv files in the "other" folder. Do they also work with the Garmin folder contents.

righty ho, let me try clear this up then...
i did originally have the pocketgps camera database in the zip download. as per their license agreement though:
"Important.
These POI databases are provided with a license for individual use. You are not allowed to copy, redistribute, concatenate or use these data in any way without the permission of the originators. This includes consolidating the data onto CDs or any other storage medium. Under no circumstances are you permitted to sell the data commercially in any format without a license from PocketGPSWorld.com or the orinator of the data set.
Copyright (c) PocketGPSWorld.com and Originator all rights reserved."
they only gave me permission to host it until the end of september. this coincided with the release of the garmin version of the database. i removed the speed cam files from my zip in early october.
i've been using the general databse as opposed to the specific garmin one mainly because i prefer to have the gatso's all in one file (rather than gatso_30, gatso_40, gatso_50 etc etc). unfortunately there isn't such a file in the garmin database. this is why the instructions in the MaFt.co.uk/i3 site are as they are.
hope this makes sense! in the mean time, i need to update the site as well as a bunch of poi's i've been emailed... sorry for being slack!
