Quick question. If you're running your I3 with batteries only, and they run out while its on, is it any problem? Or can you just put new ones in? I realise you may have to re do your route unless it keeps it in the recent routes list.

Reason being I'll be using mine to go somewhere a few hours away and the cigarette lighter in the vehicle I'm using has been rendered unusable so it's going to be batteries only....

Any comments?

I would say get a pair of Energizer E2 Lithium batteries or Panasonic Oxyride and that should give you a minimum of 5 hours and possibly 6 hours of uninterrupted use.

But if you do run out of power there shouldn't be any problems but as you suspect you will have to calculate your route again.

Hi,

I use my i3 on batteries only and have not had a problem, the 2500mah rechargables easily last for a 4-5 hour journey. Have had the batteries run out, just swap for a charged pair, redo you route and away you go - no problems.

Cheers,

Russ

I had this a few weeks ago - it lasted only about 20 mins after the low battery warning appeared (2500 NiMH batteries) and then turned off. I pulled over and stuck another set in and turned it back on and it had kept all the info - think I just had to select "view map" from the first screen and I was on my way again.

Thanks folks. I'm just on Duracells and usually use the cigar lighter power source, but as I say I'll be in a borrowed car with no cigar lighter.
I'll take more batteries so I'm sure it'll be ok.
Thanks again
