|
|
Dunno whether anybody else encounters this, but I find the windscreen suction mount most frustrating.
I find it either falls off the windscreen during journeys, or alternatively, won't easily come off the windscreen at the end of journeys. I make sure that the area of the windscreen is clean.
I'm not sure if when it's fallen off, it's been times when airflow has been directed to the windscreen, or not - must make more effort to note that.
When it won't easily come off, it can end up with the i3 getting pulled out of the map, and if I'm not careful, falling somewhere in the cabin. I find the tab on the mount not ideally placed - it seems at the most furthest point and at the bottom - where it's difficult to reach and get access - but so far, I've not found an easy way of rotating that bit so it's more easily accessible.
Anybody else find the windscreen mount is annoying and frustrating? |

that's where mine is. i leave the sucker attached cos it could be for anything really... like a hands free kit for phone, or a holder for a notepad and pen...

I've never had it fall off, in hundreds of miles... but getting the sucker off is a pain - that little tab rarely works and I normally end up sticking a nail under one edge of the sucker to break the seal.

the would be thief might not notice it but if he did and your window was open on a hot day he could grab it very easily..... _________________ *************************** |

Personally speaking I very rarely have my windows open - even on (actually especially on) the hottest of days - that's what aircon is for.
So I'm less worried about security on the move, but reasonably concerned about the hassle of having my car broken into when it's parked. |

You have to wet it with a bit of saliva and it sticks much better. I always try and unclip the tab about one or two mins before removing sucker and it then normally comes away quite easily.

That's a good point! I hadn't thought of that... having the GPS pinched AND getting lost in one fell swoop... |

true, not too sure how much effort it would take to snatch an I3 off its mount. Motto must be, Keep your doors locked and windows shut. |

1) Place woollen jumper against side window.
2) Hit same with 3lb lump hammer.
3) Ignore alarm (if fitted/set) as no-one takes any notice of them.
4) Reach in and grab i3. - Total time taken around 8 seconds.
5) Run like hell to the nearest Pub and flog i3 for a few quid.
6) Buy drugs with the Proceeds.
7) Repeat 1-6 as often as required!
.
ADVICE TO ALL
Go To:- https://www.menduk.org/menduk/home.ikml
Sign-up - it's totally free - and put your i3 on the database.
(I've got my i3, TomTomGo, Camera and lots of other stuff on it.)
This database is used by the Police when looking for stolen property. Can also be used by dealers and members of the Public.
If your i3 gets stolen simply go back and tick it as having been stolen.
It cost you nowt but could result in your stolen i3 being recovered.

Thing is, though, like with a lot of these things - would you want it, after some scrote has nicked it? |

yes there is the hammer to the window...or the autocentrepuch, but to reach in and tug the thing off?
Reckon it would take some effort.
For the record, I dont leave it in when parked up and away from the wagon.
I was more concerned about people reaching into grab it in either traffic jams or traffic lights.
Reckon if you leave it in and walk away, you will sadly get whats coming to you, and it will remain this way until the state starts chopping. |
