street pilot i3 sound quality

got my i3 yesterday and have noticed that when the volume is on max the speaker rattles slightly and is has a sort of raspy edge to the vocal commands, turning down to 4 stops it. s/w version is 2.6 if it makes any difference. is this a common problem?

no its not ,try and compare it with another i3 ..also the volume via power lead is louder than with batterys

just tried it powered from the car and it breaks up even more. think i will take it back to halfords for them to hear it.
