hi all found this on ebay have purcheased one to try but should work no probs

it is a car cig lighter to usb adapter which outputs at 5volts so as an additional lead if you have hardwired the one which comes with the i3 in you use this adapter and your usb cable which comes with the i3 if the link doesn't work search on ebay for car usb theres loads on there

Then you will need a standard USB to mini USB cable to fit. If you use the supplied Garmin cable it will step down the 5Vdc to 2Vdc

why would it step down from 5v to 2v when it works from a pc usb port which outputs at 5v surely if this were the case and it did step it down then it wouldn't power from the pc?
