Can anyone help. I have read all the details posted on this subject but still do not understand how to download the speed camera stuff to my tom tom. Have made note of all the files I need but where do I get them from? I need a starting point and step by step in laymans terms.

If you goto to this page, there is a 'download the database' link on the right side.

This will download a 'zip' file to your PC. If you double click the file it will open the Winzip program and then you can extract the files with this. Just follow the prompts in Winzip.

Just select those files, .ov2 and .bmp, you require and Copy/Paste them to the GB Map Folder.

Thanks - Understand all of that until you get to save in GB Map folder. What and where is that. Sorry to sound stupid but this is new to me.

To get the files to your GO you will have connected the GO to your PC with the USB lead and opened it as a removable drive via "My Computer".

Open the GO as a normal window and the Great Britain map will appear as a folder. Drag all your downloaded .ov2 and matching .bmp files into the map folder. Right click and "safely remove" the GO. When the GO display stops flashing and reboots, you can disconnect the GO.

Then go via GO preferences to "Manage PoI" and enable all the camera PoIs.

Then go through the same sort of procedure and choose "Warn when near PoI" to set the warning sound s and distance.

Change Preferences
Manage PoI
Enable PoI

Then scroll down (or type "po"), they are stored in alphabetical order and all start "pocketgps_uk_ " Tick the box to enable.

Then do Change Prefs
Manage PoI
Warn when near PoI

Select each camera group and follow the menu through for each.

They dont appear to be there? In which case I have no idea where they have been saved. It showed the card flashing as though something was happening but it doesnt look as though there is anything there. Any idea what I could have done wrong? I opened up the tom through my computer - then opened up the zip file and then dragged the files across. This seems not to have happened then. Is there another way?

Tap the screen and select Change Preferences.

Go to Page 2 and select Manage POI.

Middle Top Icon 'Warn When Near'. Select this.

You will be presented with a screen containing names, and at the bottom, a keyboard. If you have not selected any POI's before and are using the default camera name, pocketgps_uk_...... you type 'PO' on the keyboard and you will get the first of the cameras listed on your screen.

Tap the first name, which I think will be Gatso 20 (if you are using speed zoned), and you will be stepped through the menus for the Warn When Near.

Just repeat for each camera type you are using.

I understand all the bits about enabling POIs etc but it is the fact that they do not appear anywhere. They have obviously not saved onto the tom tom. Is there another way other than dragging the files across maybe? So that then they are saved onto the tomtom card.

Did you put them in the GB Map Folder?

How many POI categories have you added? There is a max of 40 with V5 and 27 above that.

Yes I can see them in the file when I open up my computer and the tom tom to look at the files. They are in Great Britain Map. I have never added anything - only got it yesterday - am getting extremely frustrated with it. Have deleted all files twice and downloaded again even from the website but still have no joy in finding them on the tomtom. :x

Apart from the limit of 27 PoI categories, are the individual files at the top level of the map folder? That is, not inside any other folder.

....and you have only copied the .ov2 and matching .bmp files?

Which set are you using? Single file, type differentiated (gatso, mobile, redlight etc.) or the full speed zoned set?
