Hi,

A few days ago I got a GPS-6010 in order to be used on my observatory.

I have been testing the unit and at first it took some time until I got it to work in NMEA protocol as well as with the free demo software from SiRF.

http://www.stargps.ca/pub/SiRFDemo.exe

Yesterday it was working the whole day after I had a little problem telling me following message "SRAM backup not done: Too few SVs used in a solution" but I managed to get it going again.

Today morning I started it again with the SiRF in NMEA protocol and then switched over to SiRF protocol. It did find some satellites green in the radar view, but it did not take long until they became blue and then red and afterwards all gone.

I tried to revive it again but all I get now after 3-4 hours of trying id the above message.

Can I somehow reset the SRAM ? or do I have to wait until the internal battery is discharged ? which will take about 30 days Crying or Very sad

I tried every thing with the command

Initialize Data Source ........ using Factory reset, cold start, warm start (init), warm start (no init), hot start, but no way to get it to see the satellites anymore.

What about ripping out the battery ? Twisted Evil

Thanks in advance for any tips

regards Rainer

Hi,

It seems to be that using the Rikaline GPS-6010 needs as a requirement a lot of Patience Smile

Problem solved after 3-4 hours of trying to get it going again.

Just connect it and go drink a coffee and wait until it gets again the satellites.

regards Rainer
